Major Stash Enhancement!

My friends took me on a road trip for my birthday!! A road trip to WEBS! We had so much fun and the folks at the WEBS store are so wonderful and helpful.

Here we are on our way there.

And here I am all excited in front of the store!

The first thing we did was go to the warehouse portion to check out the sales and variety of yarn. To say its overwhelming is an under statement. There was so much to choose from but that’s ok, because I came prepared with my birthday money!

I got some cotton yarn to make some summer chemo hats for my MIL who is being treated for breast cancer. She asked for cotton so cotton she gets and her favorite colors are turquoise and teal and I found some beautiful ones there.

Here is the shopping cart. (Yes, shopping cart!) with some of our stuff in it.

and here is what I refered to as the “Decision Table”. It’s where we put stuff to mull over till we decided what we wanted.

It was soooo much fun there and everyone was so wonderful, helpful and friendly. Here we are on our way out with our loot.

My Humble Thanks

A little over a week ago I published one of my designs for the first time up to Ravelry. It is the Urban Village Cowl and I am thrilled to say that over 500 people downloaded it the first week. True I had promoted it with a free coupon but I tell you from the bottom of my heart I am so thrilled that so many of you made it part of your library. I look forward to seeing people cast it on and hope you all enjoy knitting it! So, THANK YOU!!!

Of course this wouldn’t be a knitting blog if I didn’t show you some pictures of knitty stuff so…… without further ado I present to you “Amy’s Knitting Bag” and the contents there of.

Knitbag

Keep in mind this is not everything I am working on. Just the stuff that has my attention right now.

Let’s start off with the Citron Project

I also have a design project in the bag.

Vogue Knitting Live!!

I live in a prime location for access to some of the most fun knitting events in the country. As a matter of fact, so much goes on around here that I have to pick what I will go to. Of them all there are 2 I would never miss; Rhinebeck and Vogue Knitting Live. I love spending the day in New York City with my friends, shopping from some of the best vendors, classes with the best teachers and fashion shows exhibiting knits from some of the top designers in the world!

I went with some great friends. Here we are waiting for the fashion show to begin:

I was excited to meet one of my favorite bloggers and podcasters Maria from Subway Knits! She was super nice and took the time to pose for a picture with me.

There was an amazing amount of vendors to explore and so much beautiful stuff I wanted to buy. Needless to say I could not afford everything I wanted but there were a few things I went there wanting to buy. One was one of the Soak kits with the nail polish and skein of Lorna’s Laces. I chose the light pink one.

I also wanted to get some fun project bags and ended up getting these bags by YarnPop. I love the holes for the yarn to feed out of. This will come in real handy when I’m doing color work. I bought 2 bags with one hole and one bag with 2 holes for the color work. The fabric designs were all beautiful and it was hard to decide. I ended up with the Giraffe one because I have a thing for giraffes. I also got a small one with cute owls on it and the larger one with this nice black and white print on it. Can’t wait to use them!

I also found some knitting tools that I have needed like these flexible blocking wires

20130121-161017.jpg

These will be a great help when blocking shawls.

I also grabbed a couple of ChiaoGoo needles at the Knitty City booth. I really don’t need more needles but I have been wanting to try them for a long time. They are very nice and pointy which I like but the cable seem kind of stiff. I’ll knit my next pair of socks with them and see how they are to knit with.

The big purchase of the night was at the Plucky Knitter. WOW! pictures don’t do these yarns justice. The colors are just beautiful and I already have ideas on projects for these yarns.

For now here’s some pictures I took with my phone. That is my husband taking pictures of my new stash for me. His pictures are way better and I will add them later after he gets them to me.

My friends and I ended the evening with some Turkish food. It was super yummy and we had a great time talking about knitting over delicious food!

We lucked out with the weather. It was a nice balmy 50 degrees out that day. I didn’t think I could have a funner weekend but it actually got better! My husband and I got to share a rare day together today because we are both off for MLK day. We had a beautiful day together. Pure magic! I’ll get more into that next post.
