Episode 25 Designer Interview

Hello all! Welcome to the Hudson Valley Knits Podcast. I hope you enjoy my chat with colorwork Designer Deborah Tomasello of PatchworksByDebi at the end of a podcast. She is donating a pattern to give away!

News:

I’m going to come right out and say it. I need more test knitters. I only have 2 so far and would like at least 2 more. There is a thread with all the details in my Ravelry group so please go check it out if you are interested in test knitting. I knit my shawl with Lost City Knits Twin Canyon Fingering which is a beautiful Merino/Silk blend with 500yards per skein. Lost City Knits Foothills Fingering 100 Merino wool at 560 yards per skein. Another luscious yarn that is little less expensive but still beautiful.

Senior Love Along is getting closer!  I am collecting cotton wash clothes to hand out to seniors living in homes during the holiday season. Please hold on to your washcloths until later in the year. There is an FO thread where you can post a picture of each of your washcloths. Each one you make is a chance to win a prize! Check out the chat thread to see pictures of all the lovely prizes!

Spinning – Spun up the batts I purchased at the Webs tent sale. One bat was practice for my long draw. Sadly too yucky to use for anything but I plied it anyway. I ended up using a hybrid long draw/short draw and I like the way it came out. I will 2 ply this.

Guardian of Air Shawl almost done with a sample and writing up the pattern. Anyone interested in test knitting?

The Teacher Cowl – Really quick and easy cowl. Great for using up any art yarn you may have in your stash. I will also be writing up this pattern.

My Humble Thanks

A little over a week ago I published one of my designs for the first time up to Ravelry. It is the Urban Village Cowl and I am thrilled to say that over 500 people downloaded it the first week. True I had promoted it with a free coupon but I tell you from the bottom of my heart I am so thrilled that so many of you made it part of your library. I look forward to seeing people cast it on and hope you all enjoy knitting it! So, THANK YOU!!!

Of course this wouldn’t be a knitting blog if I didn’t show you some pictures of knitty stuff so…… without further ado I present to you “Amy’s Knitting Bag” and the contents there of.

Knitbag

Keep in mind this is not everything I am working on. Just the stuff that has my attention right now.

Let’s start off with the Citron Project

My First Published Pattern! Urban Village Cowl

I am so excited to announce that I have finally published one of my designs! It is called the Urban Village Cowl

To share my excitement I am offering it free for the next week. Simply use the coupon code urbanfreebie at check out to download this pattern for free. This will expire on February 16 so please go ahead and download.

This design started out as Christmas gift for my Mom a couple of years ago. I had made her a cowl but she didn’t like how it sagged around her neck and created bulk under her coat. To make my Mom super happy (because she deserves it and because it is really cold in upstate NY) I designed a cowl that would lay flat under your coat and has a collar to keep the neck warm. Using a bulky yarn makes it a quick knit. Choose your own style of buttons to give it your own unique look!

I also want to thank and recommend Eleanor Dixon (eledixon on Rav) the TECHsorcist for a great job doing the tech editing.
