I live in a prime location for access to some of the most fun knitting events in the country. As a matter of fact, so much goes on around here that I have to pick what I will go to. Of them all there are 2 I would never miss; Rhinebeck and Vogue Knitting Live. I love spending the day in New York City with my friends, shopping from some of the best vendors, classes with the best teachers and fashion shows exhibiting knits from some of the top designers in the world!
I went with some great friends. Here we are waiting for the fashion show to begin:
I was excited to meet one of my favorite bloggers and podcasters Maria from Subway Knits! She was super nice and took the time to pose for a picture with me.
There was an amazing amount of vendors to explore and so much beautiful stuff I wanted to buy. Needless to say I could not afford everything I wanted but there were a few things I went there wanting to buy. One was one of the Soak kits with the nail polish and skein of Lorna’s Laces. I chose the light pink one.
I also wanted to get some fun project bags and ended up getting these bags by YarnPop. I love the holes for the yarn to feed out of. This will come in real handy when I’m doing color work. I bought 2 bags with one hole and one bag with 2 holes for the color work. The fabric designs were all beautiful and it was hard to decide. I ended up with the Giraffe one because I have a thing for giraffes. I also got a small one with cute owls on it and the larger one with this nice black and white print on it. Can’t wait to use them!
I also found some knitting tools that I have needed like these flexible blocking wires
These will be a great help when blocking shawls.
I also grabbed a couple of ChiaoGoo needles at the Knitty City booth. I really don’t need more needles but I have been wanting to try them for a long time. They are very nice and pointy which I like but the cable seem kind of stiff. I’ll knit my next pair of socks with them and see how they are to knit with.
The big purchase of the night was at the Plucky Knitter. WOW! pictures don’t do these yarns justice. The colors are just beautiful and I already have ideas on projects for these yarns.
For now here’s some pictures I took with my phone. That is my husband taking pictures of my new stash for me. His pictures are way better and I will add them later after he gets them to me.
My friends and I ended the evening with some Turkish food. It was super yummy and we had a great time talking about knitting over delicious food!
We lucked out with the weather. It was a nice balmy 50 degrees out that day. I didn’t think I could have a funner weekend but it actually got better! My husband and I got to share a rare day together today because we are both off for MLK day. We had a beautiful day together. Pure magic! I’ll get more into that next post.
Here are some pics of the amazing things we saw at VKL! Enjoy all the beautiful art!
